This Origami Existence

Liner Notes

Lyrics entirely inspired and some lines even lifted from a poem I wrote a million years ago. I was too lazy to record this one in my DAW so I just did a one take recording on my phone.

Lyrics

This Origami Existence

I’ve tried to fold my life into thousands of simple little paper boats Painstakingly placed On the ocean to set sail Just the tiniest of waves And all is laid to waste

with each fold my life unfolds taking shapes of its own

I’ve tried unfolding my life into thousands of simple blank sheets of paper stacked then neatly placed by the window on the floor Just a little bit of air And they scatter everywhere

with each unfolding my life folds taking shapes of its own

These creases crave clarity Increasingly I’m questioning maybe I was meant for this this origami existence

with each fold my life unfolds taking shapes of its own with each unfolding my life folds taking shapes of its own

Lovely descriptive lyrics and a solid chord structure and melody to hold them up to us listeners. Nice work!

Great metaphor. Sparse music like sheet of paper but very effective for this song. "Increasingly I’m questioning"..love that line.

I really like the metaphor and the minimalistic approach.

Beautiful song. The origami metaphor is very clever and effective. I like how you take that one metaphor and explore it thoroughly. Folding in the first verse and then unfolding in the next is a really cool idea giving the song a pleasant structure and symmetry. Contemplative melody beautifully sung. Minimalist arrangement works well here putting the thought-provoking lyrics up in the forefront.
