I'm slacking on my FAWM work, but I'm keeping up with my goal this year for a song a week. So half wins here.
There's something kind of cool in the lyrics here but the music and the way it's presented isn't anything special. This could definitely use a solid rewrite to better convey the solid ideas presented.
The chords are simple and the vocal melody is as well but that's somewhat on purpose because I'm trying to get my brain to disconnect the melody from the chords. Usually I write words and then fit them into a chord progression and that has worked well over the years, but I feel it limits me and I think I need to disconnect the two a little more during the writing process.
As a result of this thought process I'm taking an approach to FAWM and my songwriting this year where I have to use the same 3-4 chord shapes on the guitar when I'm moving from writing words to applying music to the words. This means things are gonna be a little simplistic and weird at first but I think ultimately it'll help my song writing overall. That or I'll find my brain can't do that and I'll go back to how I was doing things and it'll be a failed experiment.

I like this! Some cool chord changes, even if they are simple ones. The higher notes in the first chorus work really well.
