WARNING: This track clocks in at around the fifteen minute mark. Please allow enough time to enjoy the entire Ꜫӿꝓƺᶉḭꬱἦꞓƺ. Thank you.

I guess I started off FAWM with a bunch of built-in-Buzz songs, & now I've transitioned to a bunch of live-to-tape improvs. That's the progression I'm on, I guess…

Getting my MIDI setup to (partially) work again in Buzz has been nice, & this track takes advantage of that. The synth parts in this song are thanks to the amazing Astral Dreamer VSTi by the late-great H.G. Fortune, played via my Akai MPK Mini 3. The synth is patched through the Elottronix XL Frippertonics emulator, as was my guitar. The lyrics were not improvised, but written while I was at work on a scrap piece of paper on Wednesday. For the vocals, I (poorly) tried to emulate The Tea Party's Jeff Martin's vocal style. But, I don't think I quite did him justice.

Well, I've got a few more songs in the oven, so I'm gonna get back to working on them. Thank you in advance (or during the act) for the listen!

Lyrics

Midnight Oils Of Passion ==================

Evaporating thoughts Distilled across Existential contemplations The time is now To justify the vow And finish this endless mission

We create the need Desire the deed and Hedonistically free The midnight oils of passion

Purify the disease Do what you please For this habitual condemnation A dream to seize Excommunicate belief To satisfy your rampant desecrations

We create the need Desire the deed and Hedonistically free The midnight oils of passion

I'm not familiar with Jeff Martin but it's really cool to hear you experiment vocally, it turned out so well especially the textures in your voice! Beautiful synth! I love the twinklies that come in after a bit ✨The notes & tone when it gets a bit darker & more contemplative is so lovely, I really enjoyed that bit especially. Your guitar playing tells a story with the tensions and swells. The delay is so trippy & cool!! Mesmerizing work with that looper. I love how this unfurls and builds and fades. Really great work, this is an awesome piece!

I appreciate the tension you've created with the almost vocal, quivering, and constant synth. The tone implies "hedonistically free/midnight oils of passion" may not be such a good thing, but hey, I can see it both ways :-)

Indeed, the pleasure & the guilt that follows can be a double edged blade, I guess you could say. Thank you for the listen & the awesome comment!

You are the king of these long contemplative improvisations that do not lose their interesting and guide us to an end that always comes sooner. Like a prophet playing guitar in the wilderness.

Wow! Thank you! That comment really invoked quite the image in my mind. I might just have to write a song with that image in mind. Thank you so much for taking the time to get lost in my sonic contemplations. I'm so glad that they do not become boring or redundant.

This really develops well, many shifts and layers, full of emotions and feelings that the guitar expresses out.

Emotion is always driving my music, or at least that's what I try to achieve. I'm glad this one worked out so well. I was sort of worried as I recorded it, but in the end: I'm happy with the result. Thank you for the comment.

I’m enjoying listening to your music. It’s like audio liberation. You’ve inspired me create some soundscapes with my chase bliss onward pedal.

Glad I could inspire you! You'll have to post a link to your soundscape on my soundboard so I can check it out when it's finished. Thank you for the listen & the great comment!

I love the images this piece conjures up. Definitely stimulates thought and reflection. I feel like I am on a journey going through something with highs and lows in tension. Enjoyed listening.
