Today Is Our Peaceful Day

Liner Notes

I was inspired by the Buddhist monks who just finished their 2300-mile walk from Fort Worth, Texas, to Washington DC, softly encouraging peace and calm. So I wrote a tune in their honor, hopefully capturing a little of their beautiful spirit, from their quotes and articles about them. Everyday they would say, “Today is our peaceful day.” Ahhhh.

Lyrics

Walk two thousand miles Softly and with purpose Hand out flowers Act like peace is worth it When you share joy You don’t lose it You make more So more can use it

To bring light To bring unity To bring hope A symphony of life

Block out all the noise Make peace and protect it Create harmony Don’t expect it Know that you’re enough And walk don’t run Be like the flowers Your healing has begun

To bring light To bring unity To bring hope A symphony of life

Slow down Look into your heart Let go of everything That’s where you start

With light With unity With hope The symphony of life

Today is our peaceful day

OMG, this is exactly the song I needed to hear in this moment. I can analyze it, or I can enjoy the fact that this truly moved me, and brought me to a better frame of mind. Choosing the latter, thanks.

They were inspiring. I think you did the sentiment of their journey justice. I particularly like the last two verses and how you worked in Today is our peaceful day. Very nice.
