Here’s one to acknowledge the difficulties of my language. If you have learnt, or are learning French, I sympathize. Know that it is still hard for me sometimes, especially since I help my dyslexic child with her French lessons. If it’s any consolation for you, English lessons are even harder.

I love the puns that I came up with; and I love it a little too much. I even explained those that did not translate, which is already clumsy as jokes rarely get funnier when explained. Plus now I feel japes are fighting against the global message of the song.

Said global message should be clearer and better agued. If you want to play that game, I wrote it at the end of the English translation. Tell me if you got it just with the lyrics (and congrats if you did!)

Well all that needs a rest and further rewriting. It’s still already a song. #noexcuse

j$ (Hors-Serie Hiver): How could i miss up the chance to add something to this lovely song? I wont even mention how it seems to entirely reflect my own anxieties about French (which i consider myself fluent in, until I get over there!)

My language is breaking down. It stays in bed and scribbles (littérature = litterature). One the verge of death (litterally “at the article”) It needs treatment. But it grumbles and calls me Names.

It has delirious X's For very singular plurals. When the fever gets worse, It sees double letters.

It won't make it through this nasty winter (salivaire = salivary) If it doesn't get back on track. But some reactionaries Would like to mummify it alive

Its contradicted negations No one ever understands. (“personne”, “jamais” and “miette” can be used instead of “pas” on negative sentences) And her verbs, once conjugated Are reshaped like meatballs

Its speech is very erratic The ends of words are often silent Those problematic consonants Which stupidly, no longer sound

global message : French spelling and grammar should be addressed and simplified.
