Apocalypse No

Liner Notes
This one's still a bit of a work-in-progress: two almost-finished verses and I think the chorus is good to go except for the end of it. Rand came up with the title. It's a silly, tongue-in-cheek description of how I feel every time I watch or read any post-apocalyptic dystopian fiction.
No tune yet, but if anyone remembers the novelty song "Second Week of Deer Camp" from the 80s, that's the sort of rhythm that's been playing in my head as I've been working with these lyrics.
Lyrics
Some people have a plan in place For when disaster strikes Storing food and guns and medicine La la lalalala But I’m not going to do all that I’m just not built that way So if the end is coming, leave me here I'd rather die today
Chorus: I don’t want to fight the zombie hordes Or face Immortan Joe I’m not the type to lalala I'm short and rather slow My asthma just might kill me If I survive the [night] So just walk away and let me be I'll lalalalala
I’m too old to be a handmaid I can’t hotwire a car I’m useless with a weapon And I (something far?) I don’t know how to hunt or fight I get migraines when it storms [And we need two lines to finish this verse]
Chorus
Another verse? Bridge? We'll see what happens!

Love this! An idea for the half line: I'm useless with a weapon And I can't see very far
Amazing idea, Jen. Thanks!
Yes, some of us need a modern society to survive, as in with a decent medical infrastructure! Plus the ability to see friends spread far and wide.
In my case, the good point is I probably won't mind leaving before the rush if I don't have my antidepressants...
I'll be following this one! As long as Real-World (TM) leaves me in peace - for a change.
Ah, don't discount your protagonist's value: you have your wits, and you can write biting little songs. Check out "https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/46784/a-pict-song" (Set to music by Leslie Fish, I believe.)
