Lyrics
American Manufacturing
American Manufacturing Used to be about cars and trains And now we’re manufacturing Consent and hatred and outrage
Now propaganda ain’t nothin’ new But now it seems like it’s all we do Our biggest export and industry Is media illiteracy
The tech bros and the lobbyists Are making quite a mess They’re a twisted perversion Of the concept of success
And anyone with half a brain Is watchin’ us slip right down the drain With AI slop and Twitter games Til we all get fried by climate change
American Manufacturing Used to be a rich man’s game Now it’s an impossibly rich man’s game We oughtta eat em.
We’re gonna have to manufacture Someone with a spine To take down all these union busting Anti-social swine
They wanna keep us ignorant And subscribin’ and payin’ rent Pretending good economy Means you for you and me for me…
Not we for we… And certainly not one for all
We used to have a proud tradition of Workin men, enbies, and women Using their hands in factories And building strong communities
And now it’s all ragebait and lies And over 3 million Epstein files Of folks who tell us how do think and feel I think it’s time we prep that meal!
The tech bros and the billionaires Are making quite a mess They’re a twisted perversion Of the concept of success
And anyone with half a brain Is watchin’ us slip right down the drain With AI slop and Twitter games Til we all get fried by climate change
American Manufacturing Used to be a rich man’s game Now it’s an impossibly rich man’s game We oughtta eat em.
Fewer kids than ever Are learning how to read We’ve manufactured the idea that that’s Not a basic need
Cause when it comes down to it Manipulative headlines Will convince uneducated people That the kids yearn for the mines
Manufacture consent for genocides In several warring zones That happen to have the minerals We need for our iPhones
And Oil’s still a thing somehow For which we go to war Even though the sun is limitless Manufacture the need for more And more and more and more and more
The tech bros and the billionaires… …we oughtta eat em.

Channeling your inner Pete Seeger! And you are the only one I know who can sing that many words, play that many notes, and turn the page without missing a beat.
How you get those fingers cooking along at such speed is almost incomprehensible. Clever lyrics with some laugh out loud lines. Insightful and well informed writing. Fully entertained…
Tour de force here. Such a good write in the Guthrie style. Everything about this is stupendous, and we ought to eat them!
This is fabulous - so many words to sing - and so well performed - both singing and playing. Very clever lyrics and the 'we oughta eat em' hook is brillant. I really enjoyed listening to this. 😄
Oh wow!! We both wrote thematically similar songs!! I love it! "We’re gonna have to manufacture // Someone with a spine" is amazing.
WE OUGHTA EAT EM! ✊ Sing it, comrade.
The rapid fire vocal delivery is so good, lets you slide such cutting commentary right down any liberal gullets that might be about to open their mouths to argue about it. So many great lines, I loved hearing the page turn mid-demo!
But James, the kids DO yearn for the mines /s Working out in these factories propped up for these gambles and games definitely lets me see the beast up close. Morality becomes a compromise when people are increasingly dependent upon these giants to lose a few chips under the table. It’s sad and things do need to change. Thanks for another banger.
This is one hell of a song my friend. You got it all in there into one fantastic protest song. I'm vegetarian so I won't eat em but I'll preheat the oven.
Love the concept that our 15 mins of fame is our highest commodity. I've been saying we are the batteries for social media. The idea of it being an export is incredible. Especially when you think of other countries buying our attention and votes.
The more and more - moron comes through. Love that.
