It's a grey day today, not particularly cold, not particularly dry, just consistently damp. There's a lovely expression in Dutch which translates to "We're not made of sugar". Which I think is appropriate for today.

Another damp and wind-grey day It’s empty on the streets The sky hides behind the clouds Still leaking like a sieve

Not so many visitors today Those who came saw wonder The faces of the children Seeing animals from their colouring books

Wondering why they don’t talk back Like they do in the cartoons and films The simple joy of opening and shutting gates A challenge for tiny hands to master

I don’t care about a damp and wind-grey day It’s not the end of the world And we’re not made of sugar
