Liner Notes

A song about coming to the realisation relationships take work, and if you go through the motions, or just assume your partner will be what you want them to be,.... well. #relationships #singersongwriter #acousticguitar

Lyrics

Paint By Numbers

(capo 2) (D, Am7, C…G) I learned not to cry Or wonder why It’s hard to feel at all just going along I loved you You loved the idea of me I got so busy I missed that you’d moved on

(C, G, D, C, G, A) Look out the windows at the city sky See the airliners flying by

(G, D, A) Paint by numbers, so to say Living week to week, day to day (G, D, Bm, A) Checking off the things we do Took too long before we knew (G, A, D) Never learn to say Who are you

(D, Am7, C…G) Staring out to keep from looking in Sitting there waiting for the song to begin I want to know the losers can play I want to know what Fagan would say

Before any song comments: Nice Canada flag in the background 😀

I enjoy the melodic development over the chord progression. Strong lyric, too; what would Fagan say?

The line "I loved you You loved the idea of me" got me, and "Staring out to keep from looking in" made me stop and think. I've never heard a song approach this topic in this way. Impressed!

Lovely melodys. The prechorus really sets that chorus up well. Nicely performed as well. Great stuff

Great lyrics with this one.
