They Sit
by @rshakesp
Liner Notes
A still song about genuine, aged love.
Lyrics
They sit The age shows in their hands The love seeps from their glands The quiet comment Full of love.
He flicks His watch up to his face A grimace cos it’s late They’re heading homeward Life sorted.
This is the life Of the people who have found Their feet upon the ground Consistency Longevity They sit In the comfort of the known A place they call their home Confidently peacefully They sit
They sit Silent in their space A world of slower pace Another novel Passes by
She sips A tea made how she likes A tartlet on the side She brushes crumbs From her lap

What a great song! Silent in their space, a world of slower pace. Good stuff. Also, have you been peeking in our windows? 🤣
that chorus melody is so catchy, very anthemic! great pace too and lyrics as always
Brotha, this is good, it is very poetic. Very well done.
Great song about contentment - really like those lyrics - kind of reminded me of the song 'Old Friends' on Simon and Garfunkle's Bookends album. Sonically it had a Moody Blues feel to it - sort of washes over you as you listen - really nice.
So many great lines here! "The quiet comment/Full of love." "In the comfort of the known." "A tea made how she likes." Thank you for this portrait of a loving couple.
The picture you've painted in the last stanza is perfect, i love the fizzle out of the rhyme scheme with crumbs from her lap, I can picture the quietness of the comfortable lived in room and life. It's reminding me of another song but in an antithetical way and I can't remember the name of it right now - if I do I will come back. This is a great listen, nice work
Love the deep bass! really gives this the appropriate weight. The chorus sounds really good. It really soars. The part about a world with slower pace is a really powerful one. Really good song.
