My fifth FAWM track for 2026, and also the fifth in which all sounds originate from my old Yamaha RX7 drum machine - with all the drum parts programmed via midi, and with all the pitched sounds being sampled, and then altered through various hardware and software FX units.

To me, this track has an early 1990s techno vibe, and its all about up-and-down dynamics. The kick and tom parts came first and the rest of the track was built around them. After most of the track was done, I decided it needed more of a lift in the crescendo parts (like at 5.03), and added the snare parts in last to give the track the necessary boost. I used an arpeggiator on the melodic parts which were improvised initially, and then copied and pasted throughout the track at various points.

My personal favourite section of the track is the breakdown from about 3.29 to about 4.32 - here I took a melodic part which was then warped through a comb filter which created a glassy feedback-type sound which seemed to hit random notes at some points, and then splashed tons of reverb over it. This gives this part its very ghostly/spooky quality.
