Liner Notes

This probably won't sound Brazilian, but it's in the vein of the type of music I an studying. (if you are interested, look up "Ze Mulato e Cassiano," "Pena Branco e Xavatinho," or Simon and Garfunkel)

It was kind of inspired by the skirmish I saw going on here this morning about running out of things, and I hit running out of longing, and did this little ditty. I think it might need one more verse, if it ends up being used. We will see!

Lyrics

What if I no longer longed for your love how would I fill my dreams with tears how would my nights survive the day of patiently pining the past to stay

what if I no longer longed for your smile how would I darken my drive past the park what would I remember to relive the day we rode on our bikes in the rain and the gray

what if I no longer longed for your help to piece back together my childhood face how could I look at myself in the mirror without the shadow of holding you near

what if I no longer longed for your pain of wishing that you’d never left how you went how could I hide from the way that you felt in my bottles of memories blaming myself

what if I no longer longed for your love no longer imagined that you’d never change no longer frozen in history’s bind how could you grow up and leave me behind?

what if I no longer longed for your hope to one day emerge from this chrysalis home one day we were young with the future ahead how can I live and then just end up dead?

what if I no longer longed for your home what would I do with these bookshelves I built the folders of ancestral recipes stacked awaiting a grandmother’s hand to come back

what if I no longer longed for an end how could I believe that there is a place where happiness lives on forever again if always forever is yet to begin

This is nicely done, taking the prompt and exploring these thoughts. I especially liked: what if I no longer longed for your home/ what would I do with these bookshelves I built- the specific detail of that hit. And the strings at the end of the song! Loved it.
