Lyrics
There's snow in the trees All that their branches can bear There's snow on the streets and sidewalks It's everywhere
There's a chill in the air It's old and familiar It gets inside your bones You ain't goin' anywhere When the air gets colder And there's comfort in your Buffalo home
Hot tea with honey and lemon And a shot of 80 proof Maybe tomorrow mornin' We'll get some snow off of the roof
There's a chill in the air It's old and familiar It gets inside your bones You ain't goin' anywhere When the air gets colder And there's comfort in your Buffalo home
I love to watch the snow Dancing through the air Before you even know it It's everywhere
There's a chill in the air It's old and familiar It gets inside your bones You ain't goin' anywhere When the air gets colder And there's comfort in your Buffalo home There's comfort in your Buffalo home
There's snow in the trees All that there branches can bear

NOTE: as I typed out the final lyrics, I wonder about singing "there's snow in the trees... it's everywhere" as the final lyric (rather than how I did it in the demo)

Having grown up in the Georgian Bay/Lake Huron region of Ontario I know this sort of vibe -- what's a winter day without a nice dump of lake effect snow?
I can see Buffalo all full of snow in this song as you sing it. Nicely done!
Here's to the North Country! With one major exception (I wrote a song in 2007 called "Two Degrees in Buffalo"), I have pretty much avoided writing or singing about the weather. This year, I've been embracing it. Thanks for checking out the song!
Great fingerpicking. Nice delicate melody with a relaxed pace that makes me think of long winter days when you stoke up the fire, and you don't want to go anywhere.
I especially like the lines 'Hot tea with honey and lemon And a shot of 80 proof'. Good song.
Thank you so much!
Really like this. Nice lyrics and the song feels as comfortable as that Buffalo home.
True story for a lot of us. Listening while looking out the window, perfect soundtrack to my day today. While so many people complain about the cold, I like the feeling of gratitude that pervades this song and arrangement. Slow down, enjoy the beauty, enjoy what you have. Great work!
This a very nice and gentle song - your vocal is very comforting somehow- a very pleasant listen. I think 'it's everywhere' might be better for your ending. :-)
