I was thinking a sea shanty with this

Lyrics

On the waves, but I'm not alone, Stars above me a heart of stone, Whispers of the ocean's tune, In the night, I feel the gloom, Salt and sea, my only home. Life on a naval ship can be lonely and cruel.

Faded dreams in endless blue, Memories lost, like morning dew, Ghosts of laughter haunt the hall, Echoed cries in shadows fall, Hope breaks through, but fades too soon. Life on a naval ship can be lonely and cruel.

Through the storms, I stand my ground, In the silence, hear the sound, Of longing hearts in distant lands, Holding on with weary hands, Time drifts by, like whispered tune. Life on a naval ship can be lonely and cruel.

Every dawn brings bitter air, Lonely souls, we share the wear, With every wave, the distance grows, In the deep, where sorrow flows, Yet we sail 'neath the silver moon. Life on a naval ship can be lonely and cruel.

You write so beautifully and with so much imagery I can picture the lonely life you describe. The structure is perfect for a sea shanty, and it would be so appropriate also given the topic.
