couldn't tell you who won

Liner Notes
Hyper-topical to the point that the world will be talking about something else by the time i hit the submit button, but... whatever. I like the way it came out.
Lyrics
on sunday evening I didn't feel well the previous week was stressful as hell way too much life, was completely drained curled up with a book, didn't turn on the game
woke up on Monday, as working folks do opened up the emails, scrolled through the queue then did the same on the personal side see how the cultural zeitgeist's described
post after post 'bout the big halftime show critical praise, accolades overflow a celebration of what makes this country great 'bout how joy and love can drown out the hate
kickass tunes, dancing and fun and y'know, I still can't tell you who won
in with the cheers for Musica Latina were complaints from the right wing outrage machine-a they went and set up a show of their own one just for them, took their ball and went home
a "traditional" show, an unwoke middle finger headlined by a washed-up meth-head lookin' "singer" barely made a dent, even by the puppy bowl beat so much schadenfreude at the racists' defeat
professional grifters and the president bitched need to rile up the rabble, maintain the conflict but it was all for naught, they went down in defeat as the country got down to those sick Latin beats!
kickass tunes, dancing and fun and y'know, I still can't tell you who won
I am here for it, it was a home run* at least for one night, righteousness won
(sorry for mixed sportsball reference, but it rhymed, and it's way better than rhyming "things" with "things")

I did watch the game, but you nailed it: the halftime show really was the only thing that mattered. Love that you worked in the pathetic "alternative" show. Every line is great, but I think "so much schadenfreude at the racists' defeat" is the one that sticks with me. Also the title line has some extra resonance -- our cultural conflict is ongoing: it really isn't clear who's going to come out on top yet. But BB's show last night gave me a little hope... Well done
This could pretty good based upon the lyrical choices. It would be interesting to see how it develops.
You're right though... the home run thing is out of place IMO
It was a great defensive game…which means it was boring to more than 90% of even actual fans.
