I Cannot See

Liner Notes
watching James Cordon's Carpool Karaoke with Stevie Wonder led to memories of learning the bass part to "Superstition" which ain't easy when it gets to the run of 16th notes at the end of the chorus and at the try-out I nailed it and later discovered it was programmed and played on a Moog
and I didn't get the gig
but, I wanted to create the funky clav-over-pedal-bass feel, and started thinking about the difference between supersition and faith, and here we are
Lyrics
I believe in things I cannot see I see what those things do to me I see the signs of things to be and know what those things mean to me
the signs are there so clear to see all the signs in you and me
I know what those things mean to me I see the signs of things to be I see what they can do for me believing though I cannot see
the signs are there in you and me all the signs so clear to see
I believe in things I cannot see I see what those things do to me I see the signs of things to be and know what those things mean to me

yeah, never had any use for it, and suddenly I'm thinking maybe it's a good tool for blues/country/classical/punk . . .
Bring da funk. And the message comes through loud and clear.
molto grazioso, good sir
Yea, this has me head bopping at 8:30AM Clav sounds very cool - back story is funny - but no one can say you didn't put in the work to nail the bass part.
sometimes late at night I consider getting up and working it out again. then sanity returns and I go back to sleep.
Fun groove! Had me full-on stank-facin' and head-bobbin'. Love the whispery spoken vocals. As a person of faith, I often think about that difference as well. Sometimes it feels like a blurry line. Good stuff!
you had me at 'fun groove' . . .
The spoken word delivery works really well in contrast to that funky little groove, and letting that groove do its thang and the shift to the B part lets the AAAA rhyme scheme work through the whole jam. See what else that clav might have for you!
