My Sword Points Towards the Sky
Liner Notes
#blackmetal #rawblackmetal #medievalblackmetal This is a song for an album I haven't worked on in about a month. I saw someone else doing some raw black metal and figured I'd show my interpretation of the genre

Damn, how have I missed this! There's a lot of Darkthrone, but I'm also hearing some Satyricon, but not sure if that's only because of the medieval tag, heh. The guitar tone especially is very suitable for the style. The riffs are (n)icely melodic!
You hearing some Satyricon in the track is funny bc I have never listened to that band. Just never found the time lol. I'm glad you like the tone, I tried to make it sound sorta like bands like melancolie du dhampir and mutiilation.
Oooo, I like Mütiilation and some other LLN bands! The other one I've never heard of.
Yeah, like I said, it might just be the medieval tag guiding my thoughts to them, because of their classic "Dark Medieval Times" :) I'd recommend that and "The Shadowthrone". They're not "raw" per se, or not at least rawer than any other 90s Norwegian acts, but they're melodic in the same way as this track. And they're such essential works that making black metal you might be influenced by them even without knowing it ;) What I don't recommend, however, is starting with Satyricon's never stadium black 'n' roll outputs, hahah! Quite the different band nowadays than what they used to be.
Recording a 7-minute song for FAWM is something I would never do... The riffs are really cool! I can really feel that medieval vibe! I love it!
lmafo, I have a decent chunk of free time some days so I can afford to record some long songs. I also recorded a 27 minute long dsbm song I need to put vocals on tomorrow as well. I'm glad the medieval bm influences are present, it was more so an idea that came after I finished writing the riffs.
mate, love the blissed out fuzzy guitars. they are a bit hotter than most black metal tones, and i like that. also like how you slide back into the original riff at 3m35s. without sounding like iron maiden, this track creates a bit of the atmosphere of their first two albums? great stuff
