The Way To Your Heart

Liner Notes

Hey, my first non-kids song of FAWM ‘26.

Lyrics

The Way To Your Heart

You took my breath away When we first met We were on two different paths Much to my regret But sweet friendship turned the tide And here we are today Anywhere with you is so wonderfully okay

As long as it’s the way to your heart I know I’m on the right road, baby As long as it’s the way to your heart I’m where I want to be I will follow my heart And stay on the right road, baby It’s a guarantee As long it’s the way to you and me

This trip called parenting There’s no perfect guide Makes you pull your hair out Makes you swell with pride Some have to do it alone I’m so glad that I have you To navigate each twist and turn And keep the love in view

As long as it’s the way to your heart I know I’m on the right road, baby As long as it’s the way to your heart I’m where I want to be I will follow your heart And stay on the right road, baby It’s a guarantee As long it’s the way to you and me

Now we’re growing old together Taking everything in stride Laughing and loving and whatever Such a lovely ride

As long as it’s the way to your heart I know I’m on the right road, baby As long as it’s the way to your heart I’m where I want to be I will follow my heart And stay on the right road, baby It’s a guarantee As long it’s the way to you and me

You definitely have a way with lyrics, especially on love songs. With the sparse instrumentation, it brings them forward.

That being said, I could see this song in a multitude of different genres. Somehow the chorus makes me think of a Disney Princess singing it, lol (particularly Amy Adams, from “Enchanted”).

Oh, and it even has a key change in the final chorus! I love the instrumentation on this, Jeff. And the melody, the lyrics, the feel of it are all killer. This needs to have a post-FAWM life! Nice work.

@lcad

The chorus is really strong on this, the way it pivots melodically from the verse makes it really stand out and I love the lyrical motif. I totally feel the second stanza, I've just left my five year olds birthday party and have been high fiving my wife on a job well done, it's good to have a partner. I love the pizzacato tone through this, really cool write all around. Great stuff!

I love the intimate quality of your vocal, and the dynamics in your voice. I enjoyed the simple production, and the harmonies in the last verse. As far as the lyric goes, terrific job. Very relatable theme, and it gets consistent treatment throughout. Nice meter, nice rhymes. Terrific job!
