Skirmish: Ghosts (@kkinsleywrites)

Liner Notes

I don't love it, but hey, it's done.

Lyrics

My feet don’t make a sound If no one comes to hear The air burns cold The stars burn clear There is no cloud between us The old light shines Sees who I am And says that’s fine

And I don’t need to haunt you But I want you to see me like the stars do I don’t need to be your ghost But I was happy most of all with you Can you please just see me? Can you please just see me?

My eyes drink in the dark Peaceful and alone Feet like a feather Heart like a stone Winter burns my skin Until I feel no more I’m just walking Back to your door

The first commenter beat me to it with their first sentence. What's wonderful about this beyond what's already been pointed out is the evolution. It's easy to hear the classic EmKeev who has always been there**, but whoa, how the style*** has matured even farther beyond what it had already achieved years ago.

** I won't get sidetracked explaining each example I've got in mind; this is a comment, not a dissertation. But I'm warning you that I do have them in mind.

*** Special mention to: your singing, your harmonic color, and the wonderful juxtapositions in your poetry.

You needn't love it, and I don't need you to love it, either. But I'd be remiss to not join the voices saying that, yes, we absolutely love it. Thank you. Keep going.

I love this! There are so many great takes on the skirmish, and this is definitely one of them. The lyrics, the guitar, and the singing were all so good.

Lonely, haunting, beautiful. And the finger picking is awesome.

Beautifully melancholic.

I love the guitar line, adds a lovely texture to hold the melody line. And your vocals give such weight to the story telling.

This is a genuinely gorgeous song.

Well, maybe you don't love it, but I do! Your vocals are beautiful and precise, I love the meter and rhythm in the lyric. Also love the terrific internal rhymes in the chorus. It's a great concept, and consistently delivered in the way the versed and chorus develop. Very Nice! More please!
