My new roommate Nashi was out back throwing a rock for her dog Deethra (Deet) and I decided to write a little improv song about them :)

Swing backing D F# Bm A 2:00pm tempo (Nashi in the background: "I hope we're not interrupting your creative process" Me in response: "No, the opposite.")

'Cause Deethra's a cute little dog well she's actually big and she likes rocks more than she likes anything She's the geologist of dogs and we all know she's smarter than us

She'll turn her head sideways and go for triangular ones above all and she definitely doesn't love catching balls

She'll do it if she has to But it's never been her preference Maybe she grew up with a bed full of rocks and thinks those are better by reference

'Cause Deethra-- Oh Deethra, go long for this rock I'm throwing for you I'm sorry if it hits you in the head But you keep jumping in front of its path Oh Deethra, the Rock Dog, she rocks and we all know it! And even if she doesn't always show it, I know she's smarter than the rest!

And she doesn't reject any type of rock, though she prefers smooth I think a metamorphic one would never throw off her groove It's sedimentary, my dear fellow, but she doesn't go for igneous that I've seen She'll take anything She'll catch anything!

Oh Deethra, the Rock Dog, you rock and we all know it! And even though you don't always show it You're the smartest one here And you don't love balls 'Cause you love rocks above them all But you'll go for anything You just like the company, I think
