Sleep Now Lyra
by @phylo
Liner Notes
I wanted to write a lullaby for my granddaughter Lyra who just turned one recently. She is the a force to be reckoned with and a just love. The words came quickly and I made myself cry (emotions are close to the surface when yer old), so it took a few days before I could get through it enough to record the demo. #lullaby #acousticonetake #guywithguitar #singersongwriter
Lyrics
Sleep now, Lyra, the night is kind The moon has learned your name You’re the newest verse in a long, long song Still learning how to sing
Sleep now, Lyra, let the quiet in Let the old stars lean near All the love that came before Beside you now, right here
Sleep now, Lyra, tomorrow’s nigh Adventures soon to be Birds will sing, and butterflies Will flutter by you and me
Sleep now, Lyra, the world can wait It’ll still be there at dawn Dreams will carry you softly through Every place you’ve never gone
Sleep now, Lyra, you’re safe and held In a circle wide and true A long, long song keeps singing on And it all leads back to you

This is beautiful. Nice guitar playing and I really like your voice. I love these onetakes that carry these straight feelings that you have when a song had just been written.
Sweet song for your granddaughter! I know she'll really cherish it when she gets older. Your vocals and guitar sound great! Well done!
