The sounds on this track all originate from my old Yamaha RX7 drum machine - with all the drum parts programmed via midi, and with all the pitched sounds being sampled, and then altered through various hardware and software FX units.

I bought my RX7 probably about 15 years ago, really cheap from a charity shop, and I used it quite a bit at the time, but it has been unfortunately neglected over the past ten years. Actually, I'd forgotten all about it and I thought I had sold it! Anyway, after digging it out again, I decided to see if I could make a track or two on it, and I've ended up making quite a few in the process, which has been a lot of fun!

This track is a kind of minimalist techno track - not too much melody or harmony. It's all about the rhythm and brute force! I've used quite a lot of distortion on the sounds. This might pass for a 1990s gabber track possibly, although it probably isn't fast enough tempo wise. Not the kind of music I normally make, but it was a laugh doing it. There are only about ten pitched sounds on the RX7, but it really is surprising what you can do with so few sounds at your disposal.
