Greta
Liner Notes
It's been a little while when I heard about Greta Thunberg's detainment in Israel, here I've kind of turned stuff like that into a song about how trying to be a good person and fight for change in the world often results in the people in power cracking down on you in order to save face.
Lyrics
They're gonna stop you They're gonna stop you They're gonna stop you from getting away From your fate You did it to yourself Should have done something else All of this love will not be tolerated here All of this love will not be tolerated here
It's not until you spill the beans They spit on you It's not until you have the means They spit on you
We oughta make you bleed We oughta knock you out for that Did you think that it could work To be a good person Well there's only one thing that rewards you here And you will do as I say You will do as I say You will do as I say
It's not until you spill the beans They spit on you It's not until you have the means They spit on you
And while everyone applauds They are a spill on the blanket for them And while everybody loves you You are a spill on the blanket for them
It's not until you spill the beans They spit on you It's not until you have the means They spit on you
It's not until you spill the beans They spit on you It's not until you have the means They spit on you
What a brilliant skewering of Greta's "cruel and unusual" detainment. I found the placement of each individual synth note to be so meticulous and well thought out. This really reminds me of some of Peter Gabriel's early 80s material like "San Jacinto" and "Biko".
