Warning: don't assume the title implies happiness! 😬

I had everything set to record this last night and then discovered that I had somehow strained my right hand/wrist. (Surprises like that have become normal at my age.) Today, it still doesn't feel up to guitar-playing, so I'm posting to make it easier to move on to something else.

Lyrics

Where I grew up held magic in the river and the land The kind that teaches people when to bend and when to stand It offered me a paradox: to stay by moving on Though I chose to leave, I never wanted to be gone

Forever, you’ll remember joy Before things fell apart. Bad times may test your spirit; Good times will break your heart.

Three of us together with guitar and mandolin And nothing now sounds sweeter than the mad resulting din We couldn’t play for laughing at the antics of a cat But mem’ry serves up highlights made of simple times like that

Forever, you’ll remember joy Before things fell apart. Bad times may test your spirit; Good times will break your heart.

Bridge: Trouble is an army, standing tall outside your gate Announcing clear ambition to deliver you to fate. Ease lives in your chambers and makes defense relax, Unsheathes a knife in secret when you have turned your back.

A green world touched by breezes greets me early every year I plant my seeds so hopeful that a harvest will appear But Winter speaks with ice and snow and wind, reminding me, “You know a spring is coming that you won’t be here to see.”

Forever, you’ll remember joy Before things fell apart. Bad times may test your spirit; Good times will break your heart.

Bad times may test your spirit; Good times will break your heart.

I can hear you singing this while I read. Hope you feel up to playing again soon! Beautifully sad. Makes me think of a C.S. Lewis quote, "The pain now is part of the happiness then."
