Nature Invites Me

Liner Notes
Bit of 1960's big ballad feel to this one, not intended specifically but sometimes you just never know. BBC Symphony from Spitfire for the strings, an awesome tool.
Evocative words as ever from @crisp1
A true sign of quality lyrics writing is when you don't need to change a single word or phrase, they just flow.
Doug: My goodness @daveyboy103, you pulled out all the stops on this one! Amazing orchestration, fantastic vocals (reminiscent of Tom Jones!), and I see you even sharpened your quill to help fill out the song. What a musician you are! Huge thank you!
@crisp1 Needed a pre chorus for the structure I had in mind. I hope you think they fit the tone of the lyrics.
Lyrics
Cool water floating Through the branches of the trees Sunlight beaming on a slant Lays a shimmer on the leaves
Hawks glide in circles And coyotes start to prowl Hooting coming from the woods Has to be a great horned owl
Every sound is saying something Every shadow has a name The wilderness is calling Like it’s calling me again
Wild lands are my backyard When staying indoors becomes too hard Nature invites me Nature invites me
Spring flowers blooming In a year of ample rain Work their magic on my heart And I’m learning them by name
Nightshade and poppies Owl’s clover, blue-eyed grass Monkeyflowers, fiddleneck It’s a natural history class
Every lesson grows in silence Every answer’s in the dirt I forget the weight I carry I remember how to hurt
Wild lands are my backyard When staying indoors becomes too hard Nature invites me Nature invites me
There’s no solace, there’s no peace Softer than a summer breeze Is life stifling, is life cruel? Head outdoors and find renewal
Let the earth remind you You were never meant to shrink
Wild lands are my backyard When staying indoors becomes too hard Nature invites me Nature invites me
The notes fall back into the trees The light tilts and fades

Thanks Donna, came out very nice
Fantastic crooning! this is really quite gorgeous, well done all!
Impressive track, reminiscent of Scott Walker. I'm off to find out more about BBC symphony from spitfire.
They do an almost free Discovery version. I have Core
I like this a lot. This is very well arranged, played and sung. This sounds very melodramatically and perfect. A solid production. Kudos! And yes: BBC Symphony from Spitfire is an awesome tool.
Thanks for listening to my "If there would be a fire" in both, English and German versions. Thanks for your kind words!
And for yours Vince
These are such gorgeous poetic lyrics with vivid images and wonderful sentiment. They really speak to me… and wow! The music is absolutely brilliant - stunning! The orchestration and the vocals are so full of emotion.
@crisp1 always writes some great words.
This sounds like it could be a James Bond theme song - maybe a more wholesome version of James Bond where he discovers a tender interest in nature. Beautifully realized recording and performance - outstanding and I am "bookmarking" this one for future listens!
Thank you for the kind words
Love those touches of sax when they sneak in! Wonderful combination of piano and strings, and your vocal gives Doug's lyrics a real emotional pull to the heartstrings.
Thank you for the kind words, it had drums originally but they sounded like a bit of a sacrilege so were sent on their way.
Amazing! I also thought of Tom Jones after the first 20 seconds :) High quality work, thank you!
Thank you,saw Tom live last year, force of nature at 85
Beautifully done. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you
What a lovely collaboration, you two! (-: Dynamic melody, and the vocal flourishes are so, so pleasing to the ear. Fantastic musical treatment of Doug's compelling, nature-grounded, and wholly relatable lyric.
