A Short, Bad Friday
Liner Notes
Day 7 - Good Friday
Content Warning - this lyric, on the surface, is quite dark, sad and contains some casually unpleasant imagery. Strongly recommend reading through it before listening to make sure you're ok with it. However it is an extended metaphor,; that should hopefully be obvious. We shall see!
Lyrics
It was a Friday night in April Barely got out of bed all day Even though it was a day off work The sun hadn't shown its cheery face
Dashed out of bed to do some DIY That had been entire day's plan But putting up a picture hook, I Hammered the nail right through my hand
It was painful but not so bad and to Avoid a night in A&E Pulled out the nail - DIY operation! - And settled down to watch TV
Dad said holidays' like the bible With violence and sex scenes. Some are more like empty Sundays A cul de sac of useless dreams
I am going back to bed now Another wasted no-fun day Closing the door on my man cave I won’t rise again until Sunday

Cheers, sir! This a strange one for sure. I'm not sure the story is as clear as I'd like it to be but I wrote this exceptionally fast so maybe that's why. J$
Today's Sunday, and I like the electric guitar and synth sound. As the guitars ramp up, I like the percussion as well.
Thanks! It's actually a semi-acoustic ukulele, but otherwise I agree with everything you say! j$
Lol...
Love the way the backing track just goes off on one on the second verse. As ever, a provocative and thought provoking listen Paul. Always a pleasure. A cul de sac of useless dreams indeed!
