Mona Lisa
Liner Notes
I've always had a fascination with the DaVinci masterpiece so I thought I'd write a song about the woman behind the painting. I thought I'd really go simple in the arrangement taking my inspiration from John Lennon demos

Verse 1 What hides behind your painted smile Or maybe it is not a smile at all We don’t know your history or know your name But you’re just hanging there Watching people stare as they stare at you
Verse 2 Why did DaVinci decide on your face? Out of all the women he could’ve seen I want to know what you’d be like if you were real The wonders I would see But it’s only in my dreams as I dream of you
Chorus But eventually they’ll take you away From our prying eyes and camera flashes The touch of flesh of swarming masses Your blank expression it enchants us all As you grace the covers of magazines And keep us guessing for many years to come
Verse 3 As you pose you tease us all with your eyes I imagine all the stories you could see The fuss we’re making you take it all in your stride To you it’s plain to see How easily we’re pleased because of you
Chorus
Outro For many years to come (x6)

Such a soft and gentle vibe, but full of angst at the same time. You have done the Mona Lisa proud with this one Corey 😄
Yeah this is my type of song! I cant really tell you why its so nice , it just is! all the elements unobtrusively play their part to create the whole. so listenable
There is an almost stately grace and contemplativeness to this that really shine through. It's a mature and thoughtful reflection on the nature of art and what makes this picture special, all wrapped in a AOR-radio-ready lovely pop package. Very nice!
This is absolutely lovely! The music flows so beautifully as you really capture the complex feelings the painting evokes. I love how the chorus soars!
