Lyrics
Babbling Brook by Clint Lavens
A babbling brook told me about you and him Now it is sink or swim Just a stones throw as the wind blows
Like a bird on a wing I heard it sing It crowed about you warbling accusations too
The babbling brook told me about you CHORUS The things that you do and it’s more than just afew
I heard it on the breeze it brought me to my knees The wind rushed by whispering all your lies
The cool crisp air said beware beware It will make you numb if indeed I succomb
CHORUS AGAIN
The news travels downstream

Beautiful little tune, and what a nice verse... I heard it on the breeze it brought me to my knees The wind rushed by whispering all your lies Nice!
I probably should count this as a half song. I did a version 3 years ago but I didn't like the vocals or the music, so I gave it another crack this year. The lyric was inspired by the Decemberists, I always liked my lyric and thought I should redo it.
This one has a really nice breezy feel to it, very pretty stuff going on with that guitalele. But a lyric of bitterness and disappointment, I always like that kind of counterpoint. I hope this guy doesn't "succumb," if that means jumping into that babbling brook and swimming to the bottom!
