Liner Notes

#acousticrock #dance #west #skirmish #acousticonetake I started with “Working My Way Back to You,” dropped in “west,” and before you knew what had happened, it was a whole different song — one about leaving a bad situation.

Lyrics

You have power but this time you’ve pushed it too far I don’t understand why you can’t leave things the way that they are

I’ll be working my way west Over valley hill and sea Working my way west ’Cause that’s all that’s left for me And one day you may realize That you’ve seen the last of me

I can’t put your genie back in the bottle Sometimes you expect too much from a mortal

I’ll be working my way west Over valley hill and sea Working my way west ’Cause that’s all that’s left for me And one day you may realize That you’ve seen the last of me

You had it so good but now it’s gone Everyone you knew is moving on

I’ll be working my way west Over valley hill and sea Working my way west ’Cause that’s all that’s left for me And one day you may realize That you’ve seen the last of me

This has a Neil Young thing going on which I dig. I like that your protagonist is moving on. Nice work on that simmering melancholy vibe.

Nicely done! "Working my way west" makes a great hook, with its combination of alliteration and metaphor, and I like the minor-key acoustic rock vibe.

Good skirmish - I like the classic rock vibe, I can hear this with a bigger band arrangement. I like the line "can't put your genie back in the bottle."

Funny how one word can change a story. It also feels more grounded and concrete with a cardinal direction rather than a person as where the narrator wants to go.

Story is peak, well done. You got the rhymes and the times. Well done

Really enjoyed this story! Easy and well written and performed!

Nice storytelling in this one and a wistful feel. I like that the way the song was going changed - I always find it quite magical when a song just seems to get a mind of its own.
