Cant Go Back

Liner Notes

I was determined to get another song done tonight. I miss my band. Turns out my bassist was a knob. Still hurts.

I have many things going against me on this one, namely that I'm still kinda deaf in my left ear for medical nonsense and I can't properly sing / scream as the baby is asleep upstairs so... this is just kinda silly sounding.

It's also just not very good but hey, song 3, it exists! #poppunk #punk #guitar #bass

Lyrics

Like an unlit match I’m primed for eruption But without our fire I’m wasted potential

Shoulder to shoulder at shows My old brother in arms I miss you more than you could ever know

Don’t you see me now crashing out without a sound don’t you see me now

Don’t you see me now Still alive but burning down don’t you see me now

You know we can’t go back Can’t forgive deception But I can’t deny The ache you’ve left here

Shoulder to shoulder at shows My old brother in arms I miss you more than you could ever know

Don’t you see me now crashing out without a sound don’t you see me now

Don’t you see me now Still alive but burning down don’t you see me now

So many chances had So many friends betrayed now all that is left is memories and shame

Don’t you see me now crashing out without a sound don’t you see me now

Don’t you see me now Still alive but burning down don’t you see me now

I too like the call and response--especially with the distortion effects on the second voice. It reminds me of the words we bite back and don't say, but hear you get to let them fly. Your guitar playing sounds great--energetic and angry!

Thanks so much!

Sometimes pain never goes away when there was such a fundamental betrayal. It is very brave to be vulnerable and say what is basically a nice thing about a knob, whilst also being very clear that forgiveness is not a thing here. I like this song a lot.

Can you teach me how to do drums in. DAW???

I use Garageband which practically does it for you but I know the fundamentals if you want a guide at some point

I can feel the rage and pain. Well done!

Thank you :)

Lovely. The pain is elegant in the lyrics. The music rocks and has depth. It isn’t far removed from those k-pop songs that are winning awards. That says you have talent.

I wouldn't have thought of K-pop that is a cool comparison, thank you!

Yes. more distorted guitars. Rock lives. I like the Carrie Brownstein comparison. I totally get the not being able to scream thing. I live in an apartment now, and I hate meeting eyes with my neighbors because it probably sounds like someone trying to escape in here.

This was excellent!

Thanks! it's difficult because I naturally want to go for it and when I restrain myself I sound like a squeaky hamster haha.

Wow, you sound like Carrie Brownstein a little! I for sure would have had this on a Playlist with sleater Kinney in 2007. Awesome third song 😁

Thats a hell of a compliment, thank you!

I like the call and response, great gritty distortion on guitar. Super cool tune. Great arrangement. Driving. Well done.
