The Man Who Rules the Sun
Liner Notes
Well I started off trying to write a toada which is a kind of hymn with that bum-ta-bum pah rhythm. I was like, this will be a light, happy uplifting thing, and then this comes out.. hahahaha
Lyrics
The man who rules the sun came from across the sea born of flesh and blood same as you and me
covered up the sky in a painting with blue eyes said miracles would fall in the rain
pointed all his guns at where the water runs for his miracles you’ll have to pay
the man who rules the sun lives upon a ship robots get things done computers chart the trip
and from the bloody sand where all his pilgrims stand to build his castle high upon the bones
a flicker in the night the hologram’s not right a memory is born of a home
the man who rules the sun sits upon his frond a battle has begun for the minds among the throng
as the nightmare spreads and the village fills with dread some fight back at where the fear is made
the dead they fill the road as the fearful seize control following their master to the grave
the man who rules the sun doesn’t want to die believes the war is won he’ll live forever in the sky he clutches at the rays of light passing through his face fading into just an ugly song
blue eyes painted on the clouds of a god they made look proud they would fracture back to nature before long
the man who rules the sun says that all the light is his and he’ll protect you from any shadows you have kissed
and as his castle grows on a field of cawing crows where generations fill the dirty soil
no matter what is said or what lies inside your head the path to your salvation is not through toil
Your lyrics paint some really vivid pictures! The bloody sand verse is my favorite
