Skirmish: In your neighborhood (@longbat)Liner Notes
All sorts of things happened in my childhood neighborhood but I was too young to fully understand it, left that place when I was seven years old.
Lyrics
We're just trying to protect you We know it's bad but we know what's best for you We're just trying to protect you We know it's bad but we know what's best for you
If you stay, they're gonna get you (they're gonna get you) Like when they got my car And if you go, you can come with me I'm framing this like you have any say in the matter but It's the thought that counts It's the thought that counts, maybe we'll make a profit
We're just trying to protect you We know it's bad but we know what's best for you We're just trying to protect you We know it's bad but we know what's best for you
I remember picking up ten thousand fireworks from the street And I know none of them work But there's always this risk they might And there is someone who comes in the night Besides the window Besides the window at night
Do you remember (We're just trying to protect you) Do you remember (We're just trying to protect you) Do you remember (We're just trying to protect you) (We're just trying to protect you) (We let you down) (We're just trying to protect you) (We let you down) (We're just trying to protect you) (We let you down) (We're just trying to protect you) (We let you down) (We're just trying to protect you)

Very dark edge to the lyric!
This is so mysterious and ominous! I’m sorry you grew up like that but wow, way to capture it!
Don't worry about it most of it is exaggeration anyway.
I kind of know that feeling, I grew up in a barrio in Chicago between 5 gangs and crooked cops way back in the 80s.
