Ha! I uploaded a file with a long tail of silence at the end. Don’t know how to fix it. Luckily, the track actually ends at its proper finishing time. I have an 80’s voice. Everyone tells me so. I’m happy with that as long as I hit most of the notes! Thanks for listening
I really like the vibe of this song; it's something I'd listen to when I had to lock in and needed something chill in the background.
Oh that’s nice of you to say. Thank you for listening. It’s quite a relaxed vibe for me!
Wow, what a cool build-up! Starting very transparent and almost fragile, layers add up. Then drop back to the slim ensemble, to build up again... the flanger-like effect on the voice (I assume these are multiple takes layered?) underlines the nostalgic touch of the song. Very well done, looking forward for more!
Yes I often double up on vocal lines. You are right about the ‘fragile’ idea too. It fits with the tone of the words I think. Thanks for listening!
I like this so much, listened probably 10 times now. Such a great composition, simple in a way but very effective, so many hummable lines, the repeat of "like I never knew you" is damned catchy, and how you exchange the words in different verses, also "just passing through" with "each passing day". Classic melancholy pop songwriting, you have such a natural feel for words and song progression. This is almost like a mix between a certain kind of 80's british indie and 50's crooner melodrama (especially if the strings were accentuated). And I mean that in the best possible way! I like the lo-finess of it but could also hear it progress in different directions and maybe shine through even more in a more polished mix. Great song, hope to hear more!
Great feedback! I do enjoy a bit of crooning and there are definite old time influences going on here. It will be anyone's guess what I come up with next though. Could be painful...
This one is more stripped back in the arrangement than usual. Made on an old iPad mini with a defunct app called Nanostudio 2. No external mics or instruments.
Such an immersive sound, you did great matching your voice with it! The chord progressions stand out to me as well, ear catching. nice job!
Hey, thanks for giving this a listen and commenting. I wanted to keep the arrangement quite simple for this one - to give the elements a bit more space to breathe if that makes any sense at all!
I really like that tremolo effect. Vocals remind me a bit of someone from the 80s. But I am surprised by the length of the track!! Full length album!
