Lyrics

Surround Town

I need… my surround sound…. when I am watching a movie I need… my surround sound…. when things are getting groovy

Explosions… sound real… when I have my surround sound Car crashes… sound real… when I have my surround sound

I’m surrounded, with sound It’s like I’m in Sound Town I’m completely, Indiscreetly Obliterated

I need… my surround sound…. when I’m eating Fritos I need… my surround sound…. when my vodka’s Titos

The bass… shakes my body… when I have my surround sound The lace… looks like leather… when I have my surround sound

I’m surrounded, with sound It’s like I’m in Sound Town I’m completely, Indiscreetly Obliterated

Fun piece!

Surround sound is still puzzling me. For some years, it seemed that all home theater setups moved into THX/Dolby. I was wondering when music production would follow and we'd all be mixing in 5.1.

But now, nobody seems to care anymore. Young people don't even have stereos anymore. Nowadays, a shitty smartphone speaker seems to be the ultimate sound experience...

I hear you. I’m a stereo guy. I have a nice vintage home stereo that is my stress relief machine. I’ve got a big record collection. The closest I ever came to Surround Sound, was a 1973 Sansui Quadrophonic Receiver, set up with 4 speakers. I liked it, but I like stereo much more.

Haha, yay silly! As soon as I heard the first two lines, I thought "I need my surround sound when I go pound town" and then Sound Town showed up :). It's kind of interesting that your song for this skirmish is about being surrounded by sound to be obliterated (which I read as a kind of dissociation? like a temporary non-existence?) and mine was also about being surrounded by sound as an escape... but two very different songs. Fun!

You are correct in your assumption that, "Completely, Indiscreetly, Obliterated" is dissociation. Like completely submersed in a way that no other thoughts are in your head, besides the sound. It is interesting that your take and my take on this are about escaping from the noise of life, while being immersed in sound. Different moods and completely different context and experiences. I like your style!

Ha! Literally laughed out loud! "Completely, indiscretely obliterated" is awesome. Also loved the Bass/Lace rhyme in the last verse. Nicely done!

I loved this! Smiled all the way through it and YES to the very real need when you are eating Fritos!! Nice voice, also!!
