Understanding

Liner Notes
This is a very rough draft of a slower #indie song. I think I was even editing the lyrics as I played it.
Lyrics
We greet the door with a knowing push And talk til the lamp runs dry We sit and stare by candlelight And challenge who we are
We write our names on the table top fearing what’s to come I’ve seen this film too many times In the role of the other one
we might not reach an understanding but that won’t stop us from trying come what may we’re always exactly who we’re meant to be
Lonely years pass and keep running to the other side of the pillow looking for the cool comfort of That what just won’t come
Middle of the night I Listen to the fan humming out your name I turn it around just to bring you back. And it tells me to hush
and we never did reach an understanding but we can try again come what may we’re always exactly who we’re meant to be
They say its never to late And while that may be true We damn well better get started before we’re digging our grave
we might not reach an understanding but that won’t stop us from trying come what may we’re always exactly who we’re meant to be
The painting smiles from the top of the stairs I nod at the glass that was in your hand agree I’m the one to blame stare out the window pane. we might not reach an understanding but that won’t stop us from trying come what may we’re always exactly who we’re meant to be
“Middle of the night I listen to the fan humming out your name” is a great line. I would suggest settling on a chorus and make them consistent. All similar but different right now. The one with “never did reach” could be used at the end as a conclusion.
