I was trying to record my second song and it was proving resistant, so I wrote this one instead, and recorded it, too. That'll show 'em...

Lyrics
I could be ploughing in the field all day I’ve been up forever, and it feels that way There must be someplace that I’m trying to get But I can’t remember, at least not yet
I’m in the distance now
Walking in the desert, on all fours Walking in the shadow of the sycamores You can’t walk away from the waiting train When they blow the whistle, you can just explain
I’m in the distance now
It looks like Latin, it sounds like Greek When you try and say the words you always meant to speak But you’ll wish you had, when you come to stand Close enough to hear the ticking of the second hand
I’m in the distance now
I blamed my enemies, blamed my friends Blamed my perception on a scratchy lens You can call for the kingdom or the cavalry Or the keeper of the flame, but you can’t call me
I’m in the distance now
Rocks on the hillside, stones in the field You wouldn’t believe what the plough revealed Saddle up your pony, hitch up the team We’re all gonna wake up way downstream
I’m in the distance now

Wonderful, as always. That guitar playing shines, but of course it’s also integral to the piece and the whole thing works really well.
love it love it love it!
And yes, only way to deal with subborn songs. (those mamafluffers!)
Out of this world guitar playing, so many cool lines in the lyrics and altogether extremely catchy. A nod to In the Jailhouse Now, with that emphasized "now"? I think of Blind Blakes version, not because it resembles that much, but because the level of guitar technique.
Oh Man.... this is Great. It's kind of like a Mose Allison song but he's playing Snappy Jazzy Fingerstyle Guitar instead of piano! Killer.
Maybe later you might be able to get your Slide Mojo going too (I Hope).
Yup. So many choice lines here. Love the waiting train couplet and the blame couplet . . . and, well, all of them. Nice contrast between the fast verses and the refrain, and of course the guitar work. What can I say? I love your music.
Oh man! It's taken me a while to find where all my favorites are hiding this year, I'm so glad I got back to find your guitar picking! And this is great, it's got that full easy feel of a song that just comes up on its own when you're in a struggle with The Muse . I been there, done that, and the new one just interrupts and says "Forget about that one, how about this?" YASS!
So many great lines and lyrical phrases. Groove’n guitar, just moving along with purpose. The quality of the recording captures the nuances. Nice full sound to it. I’m just gonna put this on repeat for a little while…
Awesome slice of upbeat blues for sure. I admire your dexterous guitar work. One mic, eh? Really fabulous performance here. A real toe-tapper. I enjoyed this muchly.
Lovely clean sound with really fun playing, love the little solo breakdown after the verse chorus. Nice relaxed vocal that perfectly compliments the style. The lyrics are great and scan really musically. Great write all round.
Blamed my perception on a scratchy lens is such a great line, and great sounding guitar. Great job!
