Well, this is about the speed of my FAWM so far this month, and so I am embracing it. Another one-take piano improv instrumental voice memo, since I'm still recovering from a bad cold, which renders my voice and overall bandwidth pretty limited at the moment.

Realized upon listening back that 1. I am a loud rhythmic breather, and 2. this is a #collabwithdog as you can hear the random jingling of my dog's collar/tags throughout, LOL.

The rhythmic breathing kinda sounds cool! I'm loving the mood and the progression also. Nice stuff!

All the little breaths, chair creaks and collar noises (surely the latter counts as percussion?) give a tonne of atmosphere. Love the boldness and sustain of the big chords, which contrast so nicely to the flickering arpeggios on the last one. Ooooh, and then the way it builds after the 2 minute mark is awesome. Playing is absolute fire again, Hannah. If the voice doesn’t fully return this month, 14 of these would genuinely make a brilliant album!

Thanks again friend. We will see how many of these I end up writing before the voice decides to cooperate again ☺️

Love the how this flows. Beautiful phrasing and touch on the keys. The build around 2:15 is really wonderful. I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Liz for the listen and kind comment!

Lovely playing. The slightly honky-tonk (?) piano sounds great. The breathing actually works great as some kind of percussion, and the dog's toys are like tambourines. It's kinda rhythmic and comes at exactly the right moments. So it all just fits together and the recording makes it really feel alive!

Thanks for the comment! Yes, I suppose I was embracing “environment-as-music” here. ☺️

Way to FAWM on! More than I can say so far…thanks for the inspiration! Beautiful piece and improve skills. The jingling collar was nearly in rhythm and could be the start of a percussion layer!

Thanks Ellen for the listen and the encouraging comment!

This is a lovely improvisation. The breathing somehow suits the vibe of the whole thing. Props to your dog too for that percussion! It's a keeper.

Haha thanks! I should hire him as my percussionist I think 😏

I was just telling my third grade music class about FAWM and spotted your piece. We just listened to it and they applauded!! We really enjoyed it!

Oh this makes me smile big! Thanks for sharing!
