I Was Never Here Again

Liner Notes
The title comes from my long-running list of song ideas whose origins are lost to time. I pulled out all four of my basses for this challenge: my go-to Cort, my homemade 2-string cigar box bass played with a slide, my uke bass kit build, and the neglected beginner bass pulled from the back of the closet. No other instruments were harmed in the making of this song.
Lyrics
I’m halfway to a problem, and that’s where you come in Doing what you do, you do it well Misremembered deeds forgotten, our truths become fiction But I prefer the version that you tell
Blow the dust off the mandolin I was never here again
Building up the losses, time slouching through the haze I feel this chapter drawing to a close Another round, another round, another round we raise Illuminate the shadows which we throw
Twist the mill and just say when I was never here again Flip the script, start at the end I was never here again
If you see the equestrienne I was never here again All God’s people say amen I was never here again
I’m halfway to a problem, and that’s where you come in

Great take on the bass challenge. Interesting with the slide on bass. It definitely works. I really liked the melody, it worked well with the Americana genre.
Strong riff! I completely get where youre going!
The slide actually sounds pretty cool being played on bass!!
Great combination of basses! Never heard/seen a cigar box bass - must be heavy wood!
