Two Knights In A Field
by @derekburle
Liner Notes
This is a little ditty about two (very unchivalrous) knights on the field of battle. It's my first FAWM song of 2026. Glad to be back! #singersongwriter #acoustic #renaissance #fantasy #waltz
Lyrics
Two nights in a field Hands at the hilt Throw down their shields Blood will be spilt
They killed each others squires Maidens spoke ill of Steeds downed by tire Banners spit on
Its the match of the year They’ll sing songs of what happened hear
Greatswords a swinging Dents in the plate Helmed heads ringing Trickery comes to play
Sand in the face Knees to the groin More taunting of the maidens Hey what’s that over yonder
Its the match up of the year They’ll leave some stuff out of the songs that they right about what went down here
Blades’ve gotten heavy And the hour grows late Maybe a truce And we can settle this spat
But as hands are outstretched And a deal is done Two daggers are plunged Victory for none
Its the match up of the year But there’ll be no songs written here

Thanks (deleted) - thats very high praise!
The lyrics tell a tale of battle start to finish with no winners. I enjoy the guitar strum and chord progression, it keeps the song moving and flows nicely. The imagery coming out of your lyrics is clear and well written. Nicely done!
Thanks @schnowd. Ha, I'm glad that the progression of imagery and heightening work. I've got the Renaissance on the brain!
