Where did it all go wrong?
Liner Notes
Lyrics
I can’t help noticing you’re under stress It seems that you believe we’re in a mess And that I put you under some duress And we can never get along I guess that one of us will have to go Unavoidable it seems although Before that happens I would like to know Where did it all go wrong?
I still remember on the night we met One conversation and then we were set And yet it’s something that you still regret You don’t think you’re where you belong Your story played upon my own heartstrings we talked together and our joy had wings But now it seems we laugh at different things Where did it all go wrong?
Your face turns away from me When I snuggle up at night I chase away fantasy it never seems to go quite right
It isn’t something I want to believe It’s not something I want to achieve I can’t imagine that you want to leave One of must be strong If being apart is going to be our fate If our relationship is in a state When did it all deteriorate When did it all go wrong?

Fun! 😊 Very clever writing. I need to take lessons from you.
Wow, I am so impressed with the writing and rhythm of this song. and despite the sad theme the upbeat melody is a great contrast. A perfect jazzy song true to the nature of jazz: singing about something sad romantically. Great job!
Gotta say, I can't help but add a bit of swing into playing chords much as you do here! Love it, gives extra room for it all to fit!
Love the classic bounce of the melody and your cadence. Those jazzy uke chords are the perfect accompaniment.
I love songs that deliver a message in a way that's at odds with the way they sound. This is a great example - an upbeat ditty on the surface, bit something much deeper and - dare I say more - existential once you get into the lyrics.
Sometimes relationships fall apart, you put it so succinctly - where and when did it all go wrong. Catchy and swingy! Great song!
