#poisonerchallenge This was so much fun, here is what I was given #girlwithpiano
your poisonous plant is Opium poppy (Papaver somniferum) - the original source for codeine, hydrocodone, opium, morphine, and heroin, it remains a restricted plant to cultivate agriculturally in most countries. Famously found in the Wizard of Oz filling a somnerific field outside Emerald City.
Lyrics
Bright red blooms from small black seeds Feast for my heavy weary eyes I think I’ll just lay down right here And listen to the flowers cry
Opium Opium don’t you know I’m hurting Opium Opium I just want to die Opium Opium this world is too disturbing Ooooo take me to the light
Put that pain in my pipe and smoke it Maybe then I can get some sleep Take a walk in that field of flowers Maybe just don’t breathe so deep
Opium Opium don’t you know I’m hurting Opium Opium I just want to die Opium Opium this world is too disturbing Ooooo take me to the light

thank you I love Blackhole reverb for those dark huge needs
I was stunned by the line, “And listen to the flowers cry.” I’ve never heard that before, and it’s perfect for this! And the echo is just right. Nice job!
That is a favorite line too thank you!!!
The loneliness and solitude conveyed here is powerful!
Much appreciated thank you!
You nailed the Emotions in this one. Ooooo. Beautifully seductive sound. You caught me. I'm going to just lay down right here, And listen to the flowers cry. Russ
Hey Russ!! Great to see you thank you!!
Love the dreamy smokey feel to this - it really nails the brief. The use of echo gives it an other-worldy drugged out quality and your vocals are deliciously counterpointed by the sparse piano. Heady stuff. 😄
thank you!!
You nailed the bleak, hopeless tone that addiction can bring to many. Perfectly nailed the assignment.
thank you, much appreciated <3
Love the end of chorus! Cool song
Thank you!
That massive reverb does such a good job of making the song feel spacy and dreamy, really supports the lyrics and the vocal performance. Keeping the piano simple so we can focus on the vocal is a great choice. I adore the Wizard Of Oz connection too.
