Papers Please

Liner Notes
Wanted to start crank up the amp on this one, and do something about The Troubles, or The Situation, or whatever we're calling it. Ended up more shoegazey than aggressive per se
Lyrics
I carry a pocket constitution But what is it worth They accuse us all of revolution And yet they fire first You’re guilty of existence By circumstance of your birth Gotta prove your innocence on demand So go on and hand it over now
Papers please Somehow I’m supposed to feel at ease In sights of an automatic piece With a killer on the trigger with a quota to appease
Surveillance cameras on the corners Only their own drones in the sky Swiping your phone open with your finger And tapping into the wifi Don’t need a warrant for your arrest A secret memo tells them why Breaking down your door on the barest pretense
Papers please Somehow I’m supposed to feel at ease In sights of an automatic piece With a killer on the trigger with a quota to appease Papers please Why can’t you write a single honest piece Prevaricating over legalese Moguls turning down the temperature A first amendment deep freeze
Another op ed won’t make em drop dead Cut through the signal, with something original Another op ed won’t make em stop dead But we can cut through the signal
Papers please Somehow I’m supposed to feel at ease In sights of an automatic piece With a killer on the trigger with a quota to appease Papers please Why can’t you write a single honest piece Prevaricating over legalese Moguls turning down the temperature A first amendment deep freeze Papers please Enough to bury them underneath All the lawsuits and eulogies Gotta keep em busy til the day when we’re all free

You really captured the zeitgeist with the lyric write. The shoegaze-y style fits well, the high guitar part almost reminds me more of metal like A Perfect Circle actually. Nice work!
Definitely a subject that's on my mind right now too. Love the aggressive chord progression with the crunchy tone and the nice thick bass chords on the chorus. I especially like when the guitar really wails like on the end. There's a real anger and tension to this. The lyrics pair nicely with the squeals of the guitar and the smack of the drums, especially the cymbal hit on the chorus. I especially like "Moguls turning down the temperature, a first amendment deep freeze". Good work!
enjoyed it... and definitely feeling the thoughts...
