Accidents Will Happen (Mix It With Orange Squash)
by @andybalham
Liner Notes
This is the true story of Britain's worst mass poisoning, when twenty thousand people had aluminium sulphate dumped into their water supply.
Those people included the mother of one of my closest friends. None of them got justice. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camelford_water_pollution_incident
Lyrics
Accidents will happen, at Lowermoor in eighty-eight Accidents will happen, twenty tonnes of poison sulphate Accidents will happen, dumped into the water supply Of unknowing folk, as they woke To go about their daily lives
Accidents will happen, the water was blue and green Accidents will happen, people started calling in Accidents will happen, it burns when I wash They were told it’s safe, and for the taste Mix it with orange squash
Accidents will happen, and water was to be privatised Accidents will happen, but keep them out of investors eyes Accidents will happen, to hell with the human cost Tell them it’s safe, and for the taste Mix it with orange squash
Accidents will happen, twenty thousand poisoned lives Accidents will happen, but no one held to rights Accidents will happen, justice forever lost Just told it’s safe, and for the taste Mix it with orange squash

Wow I had no idea about this! I like the use of the lyric "accidents will happen" repeated here, really hammers in how serious this was and how many lives this impacted.
You tell an interesting story here, that I did not know of. We had a plane crash in our local reservoir recent, the man wanted to kill himself so he aimed his plane for the reservoir. Very thoughtful of him.
Thank you for the history nehind it. We have had a few insidents with water problems. It really strikes one how wunderable society is. Very well written , lovely use of repetition. Great performed
Sad, that that happened; good job
Love the concept (I had never heard of this poisoning in spite of being in the country at the time). Not sure if feedback is to congratulate, encourage or offer suggestions so I will leave it at that!
What a terrible thing to have happen! You wrtoe a very sombre and matter of fact song about it. You don't dwell on it just sort of stating it. You nail the cynical nature in that just mix it with ornage squash part. Man, now I am angry!
