Lyrics
The joy of the new
[INTRO]Out with the old & in with the new; They’d always say.
[Pre-Chorus] Someone must have never told that to Kristle.
[Verse 1]Kristle is a hoarder; Who comes from the South; She moved when her family died; Brining with her; her piece of the pie; Which not only included jewelry, family heirlooms, rugs & paintings and wine; It also entailed cups saucers and not even leaving the kitchen sink behind; Magazines from back in the day, red wigs and a funnel cake; Clothes that she didn’t even like; And shoes not even in her size; some with only one that should be a pair; dentures, old dog leashes when no dogs were there; The list goes on and on like this; All brought to a huge NYC apartment. And everyone knows that sure is rare.
The NYC apartment got filled to the brim; Piles upon piles of things she felt she had a connection to; That she couldn’t get rid; It was hers clearly yet; She seemed barely there. Never really discovering herself; What she truly liked or even ate.
One day while she was out for a walk; It all caught fire in a catastrophe; What was she ever going to do? She thought as her head fell; She’d have to go shopping she thought with a smile. New things were never mine; I always had gotten hand me downs; Used book-bags & pencils. This could be fun as she enters her first store; That didn’t even have a sale.
I never had anything new; Been given hand me downs; Never thought of what my style might be; For I had hand me downs. Never thought it would be true; Buying everything from my socks to blue jeans & the kitchen sink;
The apartment was renovated; She started placing items down & stuff in her drawers & wherever else! Her lo es c

Thanks; @johnstaples I suggest, like that Asian lady who inspired many; if you don’t love it, & it doesn’t bring you joy… get rid of it- mainly for clothes; you can google her if you haven’t seen a show…Marie Kondo;
great storytelling! I second the call for more of this story...
Aaah, lovely storytelling....what happens next?
Hopefully; we’ll find out!!
The hoarding list sparked all sorts of imagery in my mind. Reminds me of my parents, and when I was a kid their landlord. Where the apparent shopping addiction answer was, always, more shopping. I hope this gets finished and maybe even gets music.
l like where this is going. The stuff may come and go, but the hoarder mentality remains. Kristle (great name!) becomes more sympathetic as the story goes on, encouraging us to adjust our assumptions. "Out with the old" prejudices, perhaps?
A strong start. I look forward to seeing what else you write.
Very interesting story in your lyrics! And the way you tell this I can almost "see" everything! And, as an amateur hoarder myself, I can feel this one! You triggered me to think of things I have that I no longer use but still keep around! I really liked the twist, how she lost everything and I thought maybe that cured her. But no, you had her start all over again, as I guess is exactly what would happen! Nice work!
