This track represents **finally** getting all the gear hooked back up to the outboard mixer after last week's studio rearrangement.
The effort to put things back together and then the conflicts I had with lyrics for a couple of the "clean-up' songs kept me stalled most of the week, so it was nice to come back on the final day and get a little bit more done.
This is mainly a Korg MS-20 Mini running thru a Zoom guitar pedal just to boost the gain and then thru the mixer with the Alter Ego X-4 box doing its work as an FX send. It sounds simple when I say it, but getting all those wires hooked back up correctly made me a little gun shy.
The drums are a Boss DR-770 running into the DAW on the same stereo line that brings in the MS-20. Once I got the drum machine working, I plugged in the 20 and started twisting knobs and noodling around for a while until I found an appealing sound. Detuning the second oscillator is what got the whole thing going, finally.
This track was mainly just a test of the set-up to see if things work, but I liked it enough that I added some bass and Clavinet to fill out the sound a bit more.
I just jammed along with each track as it came together, so it's a little loose, a little messy, but I still like it.
OK - now I can go back and get the URLs and liner notes together for all the clean-up tracks.
No Lyrics. Instrumental.
