You graduate and then you say, “Now what?”
Do I do what my daddy did?
Get a job working in an office,
Settle down and have some kids?
There’s no handbook to life
You just have to figure it out
Even the ones religions give you
Always leave a shadow of doubt.
But even if there was
Would you follow it anyway?
You divorce and then you say, “Now what?”
Get convertible and chase young tail?
Decide you’re going to be a writer,
Only to give up before you’ve had a chance to fail?
You come out and then you say, “Now what?”
Where’s my key to “The Community?”
No parade to celebrate my bravery?
And do I speak for you, or do you speak for me?
We’re all stumbling along
If you have the answers, you’re full of it.
Just try to take care of each other
Stand up, ready to take some hits
You die and then you say, “Now what?”
Is that really all there is?
Do your experiences outweigh your regrets?
Are you remembered for a life well-lived?
