This one started off with the odd idea of using dice to randomly determine melodic lines. So I created this nifty chart listing the twelve steps of the chromatic scale corresponding to the numbers one through twelve. Then I rolled a 12 sided die to first determine the song's key (G). I then found an 8 sided die to roll the actual notes for the melody based on the 8 notes (including the octave) of the G Major Scale. I quickly decided I wanted five notes per bar & a four bar phrase. So I quickly rolled up some notes & inputed them into the RedTron Mellotron VSTi in Buzz.
Then, just because I melt when I hear those tones, I added a B3 with some sweet organ chords. I dropped in a bass & some drums but felt the song still needed something. So I found a wonderful angry sample on Freesounds.org - spoken in german to boot!
This will probably be my last entry for FAWM this year. It's been crazy productive - the most productive ever. Both in my song writing & in my commenting. It's been a blast. Thank you everyone for your support, the time you took to listen & your wonderful & thoughtful comments.
Until next year,
See You In The Shadows…
