I wanted to do a collab with @pfoo before this was all over, besides the 4-track tapes. She did a synth part and I started building stuff around it, and we asked each other "What the hell is this song about?" And we decided it maybe was about a creepy neighborhood on another planet.
@pfoo: MS20 synth part, drums, vocals
@standup: bass, vocals, guitar, lyrics
Verse 1 (sung)
Mars colony the best of humanity
expand beyond our ancient home
Mars colony no longer prisoners
of earthly human chromosomes
Mars colony isn’t supposed to have any bad neighborhoods.
But it does.
Those palladium miners are a rough bunch.
Lots of so-called accidents in the palladium mines.
and the opals of mars, the opals of mars
Verse 2 (sung):
I met her in the airlock
she was kinda hot
not covered in dust
like the miners on the rocks
we applied for a joint residence, we’ll see how that goes
they got one in the palladium compound
where they make cheap hooch
that stuff will kill you
Verse 3 (sung)
on a far planet
we’re not getting rich
mining for a fat cat
son of a bitch
humanity’s highest achievement my ass
we’re in prison here
just try to go for a walk
wherever we go we take hatred jealousy and murder with us
