My wussie little nylon-string fingers got a blister from unaccustomed banjo playing yesterday, so I went off to the keyboard for this one. Not too excited with how the demo turned out. I was planning a big choir singing different parts, but just layering my own vocals didn't get the right texture, so I pulled it back to solo. Not really the sound I was imagining. Bleh.
Another preachy song about how we're killing the planet, sorry. Honestly, each year it's getting harder not to make every song about it. Looking around FAWM, I think I'm not alone. I have no illusions that a song's going to make a difference or change a mind, but you've got to keep plugging away, haven't you?
the hard times ahead we must claim as our own, our own
these fires and floods are the fruit of seeds we've sown
they grow from seeds we've sown
in hard times ahead they will ask us to fear, i fear
we'll close up our gates and let mercy disappear
i won't give in to fear
as our island homes vanish under the waves, the waves
don't harden your heart, don't give up, be kind, be brave
there's still so much to save
the more that we lose, the more we must share
i swear to open my heart as wide as love can bear
this is my godless prayer
