Ad: Oof, we left things a little late in the month this time around! Alas, this is probably the quickest turnaround we've had; I send first half idea.. Susy sends back vocals/lyrics and inspires second half. I send second half.. Susy sends back vocals for the second half. I mix (not so well), done!
We didn't actually discuss a title; hopefully Susy is happy with it, but feel free to change it! Susy drew inspiration from Dante's Inferno, and we nearly used a sample from the audio book, so it's taken from that.
We got a little dark for this one. Not sure where that came from, but it was fun!
I can't thank you enough for collaborating again <3
As usual I lazily sat back and waited for Ad to send me some instrumental magic. He did not disappoint!
A few days before I was in a slightly dark place from seeing some horrible animal cruelty online. I know it's very first world but I'm super sensitive to this and get slightly traumatised in that I can't stop thinking about it, visualising it etc. Shows me how little control I have over my mind, I need to do mediation to try and tame it. Reminded me of the Zen parable about a Samuri experiencing hell on earth in his mind rather than an afterlife kinda thing. I did read a bit of Dante's Inferno as inspiration, although did not find it disturbing!
Anyway what an honour to work with Ad for the ninth year, thanks friend!
Sitting in my safe and sound at home
but in my mind I’m drowning
can’t stop can’t stop thoughts from spinning round
in the blackness swirling
Tidal wave hurricane limbs all splayed I can’t control it
drags my throat burns my skin they’re torturing I can’t control it
Why’d I keep it playing on a loop
tell myself to stop that
eyes a trying avert this ugly view
hell in my own handbag
throw my mind off the cliff jump right in I can’t control it
here we go round again torturing I can’t control it
You must learn to climb
drag yourself to the other side
you must learn to climb
to the other side
or you’ll fall down
